Abstrakt
The article sketches the focus, ideas, and contribution of the Prague School of Structural Linguistics in the field of linguistics as well as in literary studies. It presents the sources that shaped the thinking of the Prague Linguistic Circle and its revolutionary ideas in response to these sources and to 19th-century historical comparative linguistics.
It briefly describes the content of the famous Prague Theses, i.e., the Circle's broad conception of linguistic research.
