Eco's Reflections on kitsch against the background of selected works (A self-portrait of Ilya Repin and so forth)

Abstract

The aim of the lecture, given as part of the series "Focused on Art: Art in a Philosophical Confession", was to look at the selected paintings of the exhibition against the background of the kitsch theories of Clement Greenberg and Umberto Eco. The lecture took place on October 20, 2022 at the exhibition "The Art of the Long Century, 1796-1918".
