Abstract
This essay focuses on a unique text composed in Bohemia as a counterpart to the tale of patient Griselda, which reached the Czech lands in Petrarch's rendering at the beginning of the fifteenth century. The analysis first explores how various redactions of the Griselda tale available in Bohemia differ from each other.
It then goes on to consider the motifs used in the Tale of Evil Briselda, and how they relate to those of the original Griselda story.
