Abstract
Opuscula are "small pieces" or "little things". This database includes a selection of short texts from late medieval Bohemia, e.g. proverbs, riddles, exempla, verses, dream interpretations or instructions on how to find treasure. All of them were written by perhaps the most diligent Czech scribe, Crux of Telč (1434-1504), and are accompanied by a Czech (and sometimes English) translation and a picture from the manuscript. Visitors will learn about the variety of short text forms in the Middle Ages and the often striking nature of late medieval scribal culture - the errors, ambiguities and contradictions that accompanied copying.
