The article presents a reflection on the current practice of surveying the color of the facades of historical buildings, also based on the specific experience gained during the mplementation of this type of research on the main facade of the so-called Richter's House on Malé náměstí in Prague's Old Town. In the first part of the text the author offers a detailed view of the course of the survey itself.

We have the opportunity not only to look into how the available sources of information were used, whether it is the probes themselves or the materials collected in the archival research, but also to assess the relevance of the subsequent interpretation of the findings. In the second part of the text, the author attempts an objective assessment of the current practice of conducting these surveys and its possible influence on the results.

In the final part of the article, the value of old age, as once defined by Alois Riegl, is discussed in the context of the society recently described by Jan Keller as "the society of eternal youth".
