Publication at Faculty of Science |
2022

Abstract

In the Holocene, the former Lake Komořany was the largest natural water body on the territory of what is now the Czech Republic. This large and shallow lowland lake (maximum surface area ca. 25 km2 and maximum depth ca. 10 m) came under a specific cathegory among other lake localities in the region.

This article summarises the history of Lake Komořany, including the artificial draining of its last remnants in the first half of the 19th century.
