Abstract
A chapter in the monograph is dedicated to the role of spolii in early Christian and medieval art. I focused my attention especially on those objects with spolii, which express the concept of renovatio imperia.
It is they that pervade the entire Middle Ages, referring to a conscious continuity and continuity with ancient patterns.
