Abstract
The study deals with problem of interventions of the new buildings to the historical setting, i. e. „tabula plena“ as a counterpart of „tabula rasa“. The problem emerged around 1900 when the modern architecture was born and, in the same time, not only isolated old buildings but historical cities in their wholes started be viewed as a monument worthy of protection.
