Rock gongs: relics of sound in the landscape of the Sixth Nile Cataract

Abstract

This paper presence for the first time the rock gongs documented in the western part of Jebel Sabaloka at the Sixth Nile Cataract where in the absence of evidence of earlier rock art the rock gongs represent not only the relics of sound in the local landscape, but also the evidence of its possible incorporation into the ritual behaviour of the local people.
