Abstract
The publication Civil Law and New Technologies is focused on the current phenomenon of the time - the progress in technology, which is inevitably and necessarily reflected in civil law and related disciplines. Civil law is the primary gateway for the entry of innovations into an otherwise conservative legal system and legal discourse.
It is precisely in civil law, as the first branch of law, that the innovations of everyday life, including technological ones, have to be dealt with. New technologies are thus treated from different angles, both methodologically and specifically in the application of law to so far unrecognised technologies and related phenomena (metaverse, genetic modification of the genome, social networks, etc.).
The publication also focuses on the question of the use of new technologies in law enforcement (computerisation of justice in general, computerisation of enforcement activities, etc.). The publication also deals with new concepts related to new technologies and reflects on them, such as decentralised autonomous organisation or smart contracts.
The thematization of modern technologies in civil law is carried out on several levels and through several approaches. The common denominator of the different parts of the book is that the authors are mostly young legal scholars interested in a deeper understanding of the issues.
Thus, the publication is intended not only for theoretical lawyers but also for practitioners who may encounter problematic issues in their practice of law arising in the near future.
