Miroslav Zikmund was born on 14 February 1919 in Pilsen. With his lifelong partner Jiří Hanzelka he travelled around the world to 83 countries. In 2000 he went to Sri Lanka for the third time, this time with Petr Horky and Miroslav Náplawa. Their travels are interwoven not only with expeditions to sacred temples, which have been guarded by statues of Buddhas for centuries, but also with visits to extraordinary personalities, such as the writer Arthur C. Clarke or the famous Sri Lankan dancer and Miroslav's old friend Chitrasena.
Miroslav went to Sri Lanka in 1969 to celebrate his fiftieth birthday. Let's celebrate his incredible 100th birthday with a symbolic return to a tropical paradise.
