‘We Are not Believers, We’re Workers’. The Synchrony of Work, Gender, and Religion in a Priestless Orthodox Community

Abstract

The combination of anthropological and historical approaches in the study enables an elucidation of how priestless modes of Orthodoxy, which developed in an earlier period, interacted with subsequent proand anti-Orthodox political regimes, and how they coped under these shifting regimes of regulations.
