Abstract

The program acquaints pupils with the period of prehistoric times and the Middle Ages in an experiential way. 6th graders work in the thematic block Prehistory for 6th grade with an interactive timeline on the topic of prehistoric history, with concepts and iconographic representations and with replicas of prehistoric artefacts, and as part of the project day they work with real objects from the prehistoric period, they engage in explanatory activities on replicas of prehistoric crushers, etc. 7th grade students in thematic block No. 2 Middle Ages for 7th grade work with animated films and an interactive animated book related to regional history in the Middle Ages, through which they place it in historical realities in a non-violent and playful way. During the project day, they work in the permanent History exhibition with replicas of artifacts as well as real objects from the Middle Ages.

At the end, students always present the acquired knowledge and skills.

Pupils in the program work with replicas of historical artefacts as well as with real objects, learn to use the information potential of the exhibition (search for information on information panels, on interactive touch screens and infopoints), work together in groups. The program emphasizes the principles of locally anchored learning - exploring the permanent exhibitions in the main building of the West Bohemian Museum in Pilsen.
