On the Linguistic Picture of ÚSPĚCH ("SUCCESS") among Czech Lower Secondary and Upper Secondary School Pupils: Towards the Stereotype of a Successful Person
Abstract
The paper summarizes partial results of a questionnaire survey conducted within the dissertation The Linguistic Picture of ÚSPĚCH ("SUCCESS") in Lower Secondary and Upper Secondary School Pupils. We focus on selected aspects of pupils' conceptualization of the concept of ÚSPĚCH ("SUCCESS"), which in many ways is related to the educational environment (the perception of success is accentuated especially when children start school) and at the same time represents an important value in a person's life.
In the questionnaire, students answered a series of open-ended questions aimed at observing what associations and connotations they associate with this concept. Based on the analysis of their answers, we reconstruct an initial idea of the linguistic picture of a successful person.
