ProCzeFor: Overview and thematic exercises for practicing pronunciation and spoken Czech for foreigners
Abstract
Audiovisual content of the ProCzeFor web application - book 1 (version 2022):
- Original speech material in text and audio form. The text form includes orthographic transcription and transcription in Czech transcription and international IPA transcription.
- Audio recordings are narrated by a professional speaker - male voice (Jiří Miroslav Valůšek)
- The initial volume of recordings is approximately 15 h. Audio units include approximately 5,000 units, of which 50% are words, 20% are phrases, 25% are sentences, and 5% are fragments and continuous texts of various lengths.
- The units are compiled into exercises, sorted into chapters and subsections, and presented as a so-called book. Part of the speaking material is based on selected thematic areas (e.g. days of the week and months, numbers, hours, polite expressions, and proverbs). The material is structured concerning the sound properties of Czech, thematic areas, and the difficulty of sound phenomena for a non-native speaker of Czech.
- The material mainly includes listening and articulation exercises, gap filling exercises (completion of the text, characters, diacritics), unit identification and differentiation exercises, multiple choice exercises, transcription exercises, and word order arrangement.
