The volume is dedicated to the activities of the Vatican Congregation for Extraordinary Ecclesiastical Affairs, which was in charge of foreign relations. In particular, it focuses on matters of relations with Czechoslovakia in the first decade of the republic's existence, and also contains a contextually interesting chapter devoted to Yugoslav-Vatican relations.
The most space is devoted to the most significant event of this period, the Czechoslovak-Vatican crisis of 1925-1928, which ended with the conclusion of the modus vivendi.
