Publication |
2022

Abstract

The book focuses on the discourse of the entry of the Czech Republic into the European Union and the subsequent membership of the Czech Republic in the EU. It offers the reader an interpretation and understanding of the meaning of the relationship between the Czech Republic and the EU, as it was constructed in public discourse by political parties or various actors from civil society.

It deals in detail with the different meanings that these actors constructed in the peak phase of various debates and discussions before the referendum on the Czech Republic's entry into the EU. In this phase, the focus is on the interactions of the selected actors and how these actors framed the input.

The author then traces the development of key events related to the relationship between the Czech Republic and the EU and, above all, what space for discussion and debate the relationship between the Czech Republic and the EU these events created. The work concludes with an analysis of the discourse of political parties and movements at the time of the European Parliament elections in 2019.
