Abstrakt
The paper sumarises the Late Bronze Age in the region later known as Ionia. Incorporating the latest results in the field id discusses the history of research, and then in chronological order the three main Late Bronze Age subperiods, Early, Developed and Transitional into Early Iron Age.
In all periods the local character, as well as the international contacts are highlighted, showing thriving coastal communities enjoying an almost cosmopolitan spirit of its time.
