Abstract
The term "Czech literature of elder times" is well established in contemporary Czech studies in the scholarly discourse, university system, research institutional system, etc. It has fairly been naturalized.
However, when, under what circumstances, and for what objectives was the term created? Who created it? What sort of literary material from the Bohemian land has the term denoted? What fields of Czech studies has it been related to? What meanings, concepts, values, expectations, and challenges have been related to it? And first of all: is it the term which has been working nowadays?
