Abstract

The crucial idea of the revolutionv was the desere for freedom, referiring not only to freedom of speach and assembly, but also religous freedom. the more liberaly part of the society responded critically to the bishops attitudes. In several of his articles published in Národní noviny Karel Havlíček dealt at length with the communications between the church hierarchy nad the public.
