Abstract

This study deals with the genesis and evolution of the ancient Egyptian state in the 3rd millennium BC. It uses the example of the construction of the pyramids, and in particular the so-called Great Pyramid of Giza, to show the fundamental importance that these and similar projects had for the building of the social contract and, ultimately, for the stability of the state and society.
