Teaching Czech to foreigners at Czech universities - an outline of history, current status and outlook for the future

Abstract

In his lecture, the author introduced the audience to an outline of the history of teaching Czech to foreigners at Czech universities. He also focused on the issue of teaching Czech to foreigners at Czech universities of applied sciences, emphasizing the need to acquaint students with both written language (mainly Czech professional style and the terminology of the relevant field of study), as well as non-written language and the relevant professional language.

He also outlined his subjective view of the future and perspectives of this field.
