Abstract

Introductory study to the critical edition of Karel Havlíček's correspondence from 1845-1847. It analyzes his entry into the Czech public space as an editor of the Prague newspaper, as a personality who gained respect and renewal through a critical approach to current problems (civil society), presented foreign role models (Daniel O'Connel) and used to support the self-confidence of the Czech national society.
