Presentation of the situation in conference interpreting for a less widely used language, namely Czech. The analysis focuses on the different stages: training of interpreters, local market ("retour" and " relay"), European market and specificity of interpreters' work in the European institutions. All this is described as a subject of reflection for interpreters and trainers at the University of Stockholm, who prepares future conference interpreters with Swedish, which is also considered as a less widely used language. The presentation highlights the strengths and weaknesses of the training of interpreters with such mother tongue and working mainly into their active foreign language (B-language) by doing what is called "retour".
