Based on mutual correspondence and professional literature, the chapter provides an overview of the relationship between F. L.
Riegr and Karel Havlíček, especially during the revolutionary period of 1848-1849, but also in the years that followed, when correspondence was the only possibility for a mutual relationship when Havlíček was interned in Brixen. The description of the revolutionary events in Italy in the spring of 1848, which Rieger witnessed, is particularly valuable, and the analysis of press conditions and possibilities that Rieger outlined to Havlíček during Rieger's stay in Paris and London is also important.
