Abstract

The paper shows the use of X-ray computed tomography and X-ray fluorescence analysis in the examination of cuneiform tablets in the collection of Prof. Bedřich Hrozný.

The main part of the paper demonstrates what conclusions can be drawn from the results of X-ray computed tomography and shows the theoretical possibility of identifying the place of production, mainly on the basis of differences in the structure of the tablets. The possibility of advanced data processing in the sense of virtual separation of the table and its envelope is shown in the analysis of topographic data, and an innovative method of unfolding the surface of the tables into a plane is also demonstrated, thus facilitating the grasping of the context of the whole text, which is otherwise not visible all at once.
