The study deals with the theme of giftedness in the context of school art education. It opens a topic that has not yet been systematically treated in the Czech Republic.
It is based on an empirical study that originated as a part of a diploma thesis. Art teachers were asked how they recognize and characterize talented students and how they work with them in art education.
The other question was what creative activities they consider suitable for their development. The students were asked about the same and also about their relationship to the art education subject.
The research data were interpreted in the context of relevant curricular documents, a brief overview of which is also provided in the text. The results showed that the interviewed art teachers considered the students to be talented and having a developed creativity and rich imagination.
They were also found to be able to find original solutions, master art techniques and show an increased interest in art. Teachers and students have the same opinion on the characteristics of the artistic talent.
Open transformative activities with sufficient space for an individual expression and the expression of creativity are considered to develop a talent. The contribution represents an example of a creative activity including visual realizations.
Based on the analysis, the text formulates recommendations for the education of talented pupils in art education.
