The monograph offers an introduction to the work of Dio of Pruse, a rhetorician and philosopher. Contexts of the Roman empire, small-scale politics in the province, rhetorics and philosophy are treated.
The main part is a Czech translation of Dio's Borysthenes Oration (Or. 36) that combines elements of stoicism and Zoroastrianims as it was undestood by the Geco-Roman culture.
