Abstract

The essay is a reflection on the changes in the functioning of the Prague Castle area as the seat of the king and his court in the 14th century and after the Hussite Wars, when the rulers moved to the Old Town of Prague. The reconstruction of Prague Castle at the end of the 15th century restored its representative appearance.

Although it did not become the permanent residence of the Bohemian kings, it was perceived as one of the symbols of the Bohemian state.
