This article introduces professor Jiří Tomášek, the violin virtuoso and long-term professor at HAMU. It focuses on the virtuoso's hitherto unexplored personal life and mentions select methodological principles of modern violin playing.
This study is grounded in the author's lived experiences as professor Tomášek's student, countless interviews which were conducted while they were artistic colleagues and at the same time worked together as teachers at the Faculty of Education of the Charles University between the years 2004-2017, and from materials and biographical details which he provided her.
