The paper is a contribution to the discussion on how social workers can, by means of self-care, contribute to adequately coping with the stresses of their everyday practice. The concept of self-care presented in the text is based on the definition by Cox and Steiner (2013), who divide it into two universal categories, i.e. lifestyle choices and workplace adaptations.
The text then focuses on the more neglected category of workplace adaptations, emphasizing the role played by the culture of the organizations in which social workers do their practice.
