A review of Franck Monnier's 2017 publication on the beginnings of the construction of the Egyptian pyramid complexes and especially the pyramids themselves during the Third and first half of the Fourth Dynasty. The book addresses the issue through a wide-ranging discussion, dealing primarily with the technological and practical aspects of development, and it represents a very high-quality contribution to the understanding of the subject.
