Abstract
The paper focuses on the teaching of medical terminology in Latin, based on the empirical knowledge of the usage of Latin in medicine and on the theory of language for specific purposes as well as on the theory of discourse. Latin has its own rules in relation both grammar and vocabulary.
The teaching must be practical and the lessons must make usage of actual medical texts written by doctors. It is important to explain to the students as to why they are being taught medical terminology.
The paper presents a method of teaching medical terminology and grammar that are adapted to the needs of future doctors as well as other healthcare professionals.
