Abstract

Johann Wenzel von Gallas held the post of imperial envoy to the papal curia in 1713-1718. His Roman career was also accompanied by diplomatic success thanks to his patronage and support of musical and theatral productions in Rome.

At the end of his Roman sojourn, Gallas was appointed viceroy of Naples, but died soon after his arrival in Naples.
