Abstract

ntroduction: There is not much published information about the quality of care as seen by pediatric patients. Our work is devoted to assessing the validity of the Czech version of the original Finnish questionnaire Child Care Quality at Hospital (CCQH), created for hospitalized children aged 7-11 years. Aims: To present partial results of the process of determining the validity and reliability of the Czech version of the CCQH questionnaire.

File and methods: The methodology included semi-structured interviews with experts (9), a questionnaire survey of hospitalized children (77), and semi-structured interviews with hospitalized children (14). Results: The questionnaire was positively evaluated by experts, especially for the very idea of creating a valid tool for children.

Experts are well aware of the fact that the views of children and parents may differ. However, according to our findings, the questionnaire is long and complex for young children. The reliability of the instrument expressed by the value of the Cronbach's alpha coefficient was 0. 88.

Conclusion: Testing showed good reliability of the questionnaire. Overall, however, research has shown that completing the questionnaire is challenging for young children.

In Czech clinical practice, we recommend its use only under the conditions of cooperation of children with an independent and impartial competent adult. This will be followed by verification of the validity of the tool through a quantitative methodology.
