Sulodexide - use in angiology and possible combinations with other antithrombotic drugs

Publication at Faculty of Medicine in Pilsen |
2022

Abstract

In angiology, sulodexide is used for chronic venous disease, in secondary prophylaxis of venous thromboembolism and in patients with claudication. It is assumed that after oral ingestion sulodexide is accumulated in vascular endothelium where it exerts endothelial protective effect with local modulation of haemostasis.

After oral administration, sulodexide does not prolong coagulation tests and no bleeding complications have been reported. The article presents case reports from clinical practice, demonstrating uncomplicated use of sulodexide in combination with low-molecular-weight heparin, antiplatelets, warfarin and direct oral anticoagulants.
