From Disruption to Algorithmization of Political Communication in Digital Public Spheres

Abstract

Unlike previous ages of political communication, an algorithmic citizen can completely separate himself from building consensus in the mass media and fall victim to pre-arranged political contact. Digital campaigning thus creates large and well-connected politically active masses of communication, but it is also a threat to the rest of rationally-critical public spheres.
