Method of manufacturing a membrane with a fibrous structure, membrane made in this way and its use

Publication

Abstract

The method of manufacturing the membrane (1), in particular for use in an electrolyser or a fuel cell, consists of inserting a polymer membrane (1) into a chamber with a magnetron and a ceramic target (3) of cerium oxide, in which an atmosphere of O2 and an inert gas is then formed, the plasma ignites and subsequently, the plasma ignites and simultaneously plasma etching of the membrane surface and deposition of the cerium oxide layer (21) on the etched membrane surface. The membrane (1) is made of a polymeric material and at least one of its sides has a highly porous surface formed by fibres (2) whose cross-sectional dimensions are smaller than their length, the fibres (2) are uniform and inseparable part of the membrane body (1).
