Abstract

In the article, the author deals with the situation of trade unions during World War I, their activities and the attitude of authorities towards them. The cooperation of authorities and trade unions at this time can be described as the beginning of the welfare state.

Furthermore, the author observes how trade unions prepared for the post-war period and how they participated in the preparations for an independent state.
