The article analyzes the way conjunctions are used in texts. More specifically, it explores whether texts of different genres written by non-native speakers of Czech differ in the number and type of conjunctions used as basic means of textual cohesion.
The results of the research demonstrate that the frequency of conjunctions is related to the character of the selected stylistic procedures. More complex texts (in terms of text construction and organization), such as argumentation and narration, contain a higher number of conjunctions than descriptive and informative texts.
