The aim of the research study is to describe the common features of the implementation of global issues in selected nine study programmes preparing future teachers (with a focus on primary school teachers) at five universities in the Czech Republic (Charles University, Masaryk University, University of South Bohemia in České Budějovice, University of West Bohemia in Pilsen and University of Hradec Králové). The aim is to identify how global issues are taught, with emphasis on objectives, content, pedagogical approaches and methods, and assessment of future teachers.
The data of the research study was collected through selected methods: 1) expert assessment of course syllabi and materials used in teaching, based on Oxley & Morris (2013) typology, 2) observations in teaching of individual subjects, based on the integrated framework of global competence developed within the project, and 3) individual interviews with university teachers. The research study also briefly discusses a pilot questionnaire survey with prospective teachers - male and female students of the Teaching for Grade 1 program at Charles University.
