Miroslav Volf (*1956), a prominent American theologian of Croatian descent working at Yale University, after 23 years, has prepared a new edition of his most important work Exclusion and Embrace, the first edition of which from 1996 was, among other things, translated into Czech translation - To Refuse or Embrace. In Volf's own words, Refuse or Embrace is much more up-to-date than it was in the early 1990s when it was written.
At that time, the world seemed to be moving towards peace and a better tomorrow. War in the Balkans was a shock that seemed to many to be a strange anomaly.
Today, the situation is very different, not nearly so optimistic, and Volf's words fall upon us with overwhelming urgency. Today's times are is characterized by a resurgence of the theme of of identity.
