With increasing globalisation, increasing migration and thus diversity in society in individual countries and schools, the ROLE OF THE TEACHER IS KEY TO THE DEVELOPMENT OF PUPILS AS GLOBAL CITIZENS who have the competence to navigate and act responsibly in the contemporary world. However, this role can place great demands on the teacher.
This is why the following questions resonate in the public debate: How to prepare teachers who can develop students to think critically, to be interested in current events, to contribute to solving various problems and to treat others with respect? And how to support teachers in their work? How to bring global issues into the classroom and not reinforce stereotypical thinking about developed and developing countries? How to talk to pupils and students about migration and how to ensure that teaching is counterbalanced by strong media messages? How can the different actors (universities and NGOs) working to develop and support teachers' competences work together? What concrete examples of collaboration exist? And what forms of collaboration can be started to build?
