The presentation presents the results of a research driven by the following questions: What are primary teachers' attitudes to teaching gifted pupils? What are their conceptions of a gifted pupil? What does it mean to be talented according to teachers? Responses of sixty teachers from the Czech Republic to a questionnaire survey are summarized in the presentation. The questionnaire used the method of metaphor analysis with the aim to find what conception of giftedness the respondents incline to.
I would like to also present a story of an exceptionally gifted pupil to illustrate the situation which may meet any teacher in a regular school.
