Abstrakt
This presentation discusses the issues of communication, consent, and (telling the) truth that often play a crucial role in establishing ethical non-monogamous, polyamorous or sexually open relationships. I argue that these set ups operate on the unchallenged premise that the more open the communication, the better.
I do agree that it is mostly the case, meaning that it is hard to imagine a functional open relationship without the communication between all the people involved being on an advanced level. However, it assumes that (1) all the people are actually free and able to adequately express their emotions, needs, and concerns, and that (2) telling the truth is unconditionally good.
