Abstract
Professor Jeffrey Veidlinger has authored his new book with a perspective on a significant historical fact worthy of significant attention. As the title of the new book suggests, he contrasts civilized Europe with the slaughter of Jews.
It deals with the suffering of the eastern Jewish communities in the pogroms during the collapse of society in and around Ukraine between 1918 and 1 921, when Jews were oppressed and murdered by Ukrainians, Poles, Russians and Germans alike, and where one can see the danger of any ideology of superiority and power being exploited by thestrong powers of the time. It will be 100 years since these events in 2021.
