Abstract

The chapter evaluates the most important archaeological contexts and finds dated to the post-Old Kingdom period found in and around the mastaba of Prince Werkaure in Central Abusir. The chapter also discusses the social status of the deceased buried in and around the tomb after cessation of its original function as a burial of a member of the 5th-dynasty royal family.

The evaluation of the secondary burials was, due to the heavy destruction of archaeological contexts was complicated, but possible. The archaeological situations and contexts are described, analysed and documented by pen-and-ink illustrations as well as photographs in this chapter.
