Unbelief/Non-Belief: Western Society in History and Currently from the Perspective of Religious Studies and Theology

In spite of the resurgence of religiosity worldwide, there is a growing number of people in the western countries that opt for unbelief, openly describing themselves as “agnostics”, “secular humanists”, or “atheists”. The objective of this conference was to shed light on this phenomenon that seems to be counterintuitive to the discourse prevalent in contemporary religious studies, sociology, and theology, which fosters the narrative of Post-secularism that has questioned the so-called Secularization thesis.
