This book responds to the important topic of environmental aspects of road transport. The issue is complex and is discussed and regulated not only in individual European countries but also at the level of the European Union with the aim of reducing the negative impacts from road vehicle traffic.
The book provides a brief theoretical framework on means of addressing negative externalities and an analytical overview of the development and situation with respect to EU and national legislation in the Czech Republic. The book also provides a detailed overview of the national legislation of the EU member states on registration and circulation taxes and fees imposed on road vehicles, road use charging and fuel taxation, including a presentation of the development of new registrations of passenger cars and light commercial vehicles in individual countries.
