Abstract
In July and August, we watched the fire in the Czech Switzerland National Park with bated breath. This largest known fire in the Czech Republic affected a forest covering an area of 1,060 hectares and several houses.
A forest fire is not pleasant - it destroys trees, kills animals, threatens people and property, degrades wood, releases CO2. Nevertheless, it can be a positive factor in many respects.
And not only in protected areas.
